When we exercise we are using our muscles to an extent they are not used to. When we do this, the muscle tissue starts to tare and breakdown. When it reforms, the muscle fibers are rejoined more tightly together. This causes that toned look that we are all seeking. By toning the muscles, you are also making them smoother. Since the fat cells rest upon the muscle cells, a toned muscle will help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Many women find that once they start exercising regularly, their cellulite is much less visible beneath the skin. What kinds of cellulite exercises are recommended? Most exercise falls into three categories: cardio, strength and flexibility. Cardio exercises is generally considered any activity that increases your heart rate for an extended period of time. Cardio is generally considered a good starting point for people looking to lose excess weight. Strength exercise includes lifting weights, using weight machines or using your own body as a means of resistance for your muscles. Strength training helps you get that toned look although many women mistakenly think that toning your muscle will make them bulky. This is not true as women do not possess enough testosterone in their bodies to get the bulky muscles men are able to achieve.
Flexibility exercises are often considered not necessary by fitness buffs. However regular practice of flexibility exercises can help you perform daily tasks more easily including thing such as carrying groceries or picking up your children. Flexibility exercises can also help you recover from cardio and strength training more quickly and with less chance of injury. When it comes to what type of exercise will work best to get rid of cellulite, everyone is different. What works for someone might cause another person to bulk up too much! Another important factor to consider is your schedule. People often have unrealistic expectations about how much exercise they can squeeze into their daily routine. This is not to say however that you need to be in the gym all day. Quite on the contrary. The best cellulite exercise routine for you should be something you can do for 10 minutes to and hour several times a week and still get results. The exception to this rule may be if you are on a sports team and put in longer hours. Many people think more time spent exercising is the way to go, when in fact they may be doing more harm than good! Types of exercises to try include: running, swimming, kick boxing, dancing or aerobic classes, tennis, soccer, basketball, hockey or spinning. Also consider weight lifting, pilates, and yoga for both strength and flexibility training. The goal is to work up a sweat however it is important to change up your routine every so often. Our muscles get used to the same routine and will not respond over time. Personally, running, swimming, and dancing have all helped me keep cellulite to a minimum.
